You know what I'm fascinated by? Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID. It's when people are so traumatized from extreme sexual abuse that they essentially go inside of their own heads and make up different personalities to protect the main one from the situation. So, as the disorder gets more developed, when the person becomes stressed, a certain personality type will take over. The main personality has no awareness that it's happening. How amazing—and horrible at the same time—is that? Ever since watching Sybil, United States of Tara, and reading First Person Plural, my interest in DID has skyrocketed.
And bodies. Human bodies. They're such marvelous machines. The way they take heat from the extremities so they can continue to pump blood to the heart &keep someone alive. The way a fever is works to fight an infection. Tomorrow, I'm going to look up why we can't keep our eyes open when we sneeze, lol. And I want to know why we're built the way we are. I mean, of course it's genetics, but some people look completely different than their parents. I dunno. I love anatomy and physiology.
I should become a researcher in something.
